Always love coming here!! ALWAYS a great experience. The staff is always friendly and accommodating.
The prices are always very reasonable here. There are always specials going on.
Started with the crab and lobster bisque. It was very good but just a little salty. I didn't mind. Also started with a broiled oyster appetizer with spinach and Parmesan. They were delicious. My only complaint was it only came with 4!
I ordered the "classic signature dinner special". It is only $47 and comes with a salad, 12oz prime rib, twin Maine lobster tails (4oz)!!!! And a side. My sister upgraded to a Caesar salad. It was a very large portion and they prepare it table side. She said it was very good. I ordered the creamy bacon dressing and it was very good. The prime rib and tails were perfect and I ordered mashed potatoes with blue cheese and chives.
The best part is that my sister called and asked if there were vegan options for my brother in law. The chef actually called her a few days before to discuss food he likes/dislikes and prepared a special meal for him!!!
You cannot forget to order the Bananas foster for dessert. It's made for two and they prepare it table side.

I cannot say enough about this place!!!

This is my wife and my favorite restaurant.  The food is always amazing.  We had Amber as our waitress this time, last time we had Mequel, they were both fantastic!!!   Prime rib is our go to for an awesome dinner.  Plan about 2 hours as it is a fine dining experience, not a fast food restaurant.

Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great evening out.

My husband and I have been coming here for 20 years and last night was very disappointing. Service was just ok, not bad and not great. The lobster bisque has definitely changed and was very watery and our sides of potatoes were lukewarm. Prime rib was good, not fabulous like it used to be. The restaurant was completely empty around 9:15 on a sweetest day Saturday night. It never used to be like that. Signs that things have changed. We will probably think twice about driving from Buffalo if we decide to go back and give it another try. $220 is a lot for mediocre.

Wowowowowowowow!!! We came here to celebrate my birthday and wow am I glad we did! The decorations are gorgeous, the atmosphere is incredible, the wait staff is phenomenal and the food is everything you expect it to be and so much more!
Our servers name was Heather and she really elevated our meal to the next level. She was knowledgeable on the menu and made excellent recommendations.
I love the way they make the salads at the table and carve the meat at the table so you get the exact cook level you want.
Took dessert to go but looking forward to it!

My family has been coming to The Red Osier since the mid-1980s to celebrate special ocassions. Tonight we returned once more, noticing an updated interior, and expecting the same great service. That was not what we received.

Like another reviewer, we have no complaints with our attentive and friendly server. I first ordered a cocktail, and was surprised that the drink was but a sip, consisting almost entirely of crushed ice and only a splash of soda and liquor.

My mother noted that the prices had increased noticably with the changing of ownership. They are bizzarely charging almost $50 for a fish and pasta dish, and the namesake item -- prime rib, is also noteably inflated. The lobster bisque was hot, with excellent presentation, but as another dining companion noted, was a bit too salty.

Moving on to the star reveal of the prime rib, I had thought it strange that the carving table was positioned about 5 feet from us, facing away. Presentation tableside is custom. Upon receiving our plates, I could see why. On each of our cuts, approximately half was fat. This is the lowest grade prime rib any of us have ever experienced. Throwing away half the steak was bad enough, but the remaining meat was far from tender, and not very hot. If it weren't for the au jus and some salt and pepper additionally, it wouldn't have much flavor.

All of our potato and rice sides were bland, with my mash coming as unseasoned, not creamy, and with a hint of garlic -- no other seasoning or butter. Honestly I don't know how they could miss on so many points. They missed my money on the cocktail refill I declined, again with the desert round we had no faith to order, and all of our sides sat half-finished alongside the piles of grizzle.

We were presented with the bill and a mailing list sign up card. We won't be back. I'm leaving my experience here, fully expecting it to fall on the deaf ears of management, but as a cautionary tale to other diners in Western New York.

I don't just leave negative reviews. This is fair and reflective of a disappointing visit that will unfortunately be our very last. I don't see it being very hard to find an excellent replacement restaurant in the future.

The food scene in Rochester is now vibrant, and this inattention to detail is a death sentence to an old player among many newer competitors. Cutting corners AND jacking up the prices are not a winning combination to keep your longtime faithful who remember what this place once was. Rest in Peace.
